Now in its third year, the Opelika Book Festival (or OBF) is a celebration of local writers and readers! For authors, it’s an opportunity to interact with the public and showcase their works. for readers it’s an opportunity to find a new favorite author and get your books signed. OBF is a three day event with distinct parts: Thursday is the key note speaker, Friday is a full day of Writing Workshops, and Saturday is the Author Fair.
For the author keynote on Thursday, you can purchase a book that comes with a free ticket (book sales provided by Auburn Oil and more details can be found at their website) or you can register for a free ticket. (More info will be released about getting tickets in February.) For the Writing Workshop on Friday, there is a $35 cost to attend. This price includes a full day of workshops, as well as a light breakfast and full lunch. There is no cost to attend the Author Fair on Saturday, unless of course you buy lots of books and we hope you will!
While families and readers of all ages are welcome, the event activities are geared towards adults. In the future we hope to add elements for children.
The event is at Opelika Public Library. We are located at 1100 Glenn Street Opelika, AL 36801. You are welcome to park anywhere in our parking lot, along the road, or at the Patton Southside Center for the Arts across the road.
